UFC Champ Alistair Overeem Bio
Current UFC heavyweight champ Alistair Overreem has ain iteresting back story. He was born with the full name Alistair Cees Overeem, in the London Borough Hounslow England, on May 17th 1980. His father is Jamacian and his mother is Dutch.
Alistair Overeem’s parents divorced when he was just six years old. He stayed with his mother Clair. Clair moved Alistair Overeem and his brother Valentijn Overeem to the Netherlands, where he has lived ever since then.
Alistair Overreem competed in many sports as a kld. Sports such as judo, other athletics and basketball. When he was 15 years of age, his older brother Valentijn Overeem took him to meet Chris Dolman at his gym. At the gym Alistair Overeem was taught to defend himself against bullys or anyone else. He did not like to train at first, but then he met famed Dutch fighter Bas Rutten as well as Joop Kasteel and others, he began to really love to train.
Alistair Overreem had his first professional Mixed Martial Arts at just 19 years, where he defeated Ricardo Fyeet, by a guillotine choke sumbmission. The fight took place on October 29th, 1999 at the event It’s Showtime, the first event the promotion with the same name It’s Showtime.
Alistair Overeem built up quite a record at 10 wins 3 losses in such promotions as RINGS. He debuted in Pride Fighting Championships on July 22nd 2002. Where he defeated Japanese fighter Yusuke Imamura by a Technical Knock Out in just 44 seconds of the first round.
