There are some individuals and companies that maintain and own their own private jets and not only are these vehicles usually in the seven figure range for price, but they even cost into the millions to maintain over any length of time. And because owning flights has been so expensive, the attractions of private jet rental have been much more significant for those who have been able to afford them. But even some private rentals have been rather expensive due to the restrictions placed on simply buying a flight.
Not only have some companies required that people who utilize their planes do so as part of a fractional ownership program, but each flight has cost at least six thousand dollars an hour and this has been beyond what some people have been willing to pay for a flight option which they might not have been inclined to use more than a few times per year. And the fractional ownership is not something to be sneezed at, either, as such costs are often into the hundreds of thousands of dollars for that initial payment and then thousands of dollars per month for continuing fees.
This is why some companies that operate private jets have started to offer their customers the option of simply paying once to get a flight instead of requiring some sort of fractional ownership or extended payments over time for the use of a jet which might only represent travel for an individual a few times during each year whether it is for vacations or business travel.
